Will they fit flush between the inside edges of the window frame and just cover the glass — or will they cover the entire window itself and extend all the way to the outer edges of the frame? Step 2: Measure frame Measure the window frame both horizontally and vertically so you know what size blinds you need. Your measurements will determine both the length of the head rail — the long horizontal piece that the blinds drop from — and how far down your new blinds should fall. Step 3: Have them sized Once you pick out blinds, have the store cut them to size. Step 4: Read the instructions Read the manufacturer's instructions before you begin installation, so you understand any unique elements of the blinds you chose. Step 5: Mark the frame Find the end brackets that came with your blinds. They will anchor the ends of the head rail. Mark the window frame where the brackets will be installed. Make sure they are evenly spaced from the sides of the frame and — if they're within the frame — from the face of the window. Tip If you're mounting the blinds inside the window frame, mark the end brackets at least an inch and a quarter from the face of the glass so the blinds won't touch it. Step 6: Mark the support brackets Keeping in line with your earlier marks, pencil in the location of the support brackets, which will be spaced evenly along the head rail and help hold it up. How many brackets you need depends on the length of your blinds. Step 7: Drill holes Hold the brackets up to the frame to mark exactly where the screws should go, and use an electric drill to create holes for attaching them. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than your screws. Step 8: Install the brackets Using your guide holes, screw in one bracket at a time by hand. It is critical that the brackets are well aligned so that the blinds will rise and fall evenly. Tip Rubbing wax on the screws before you install the brackets will make them screw in more smoothly. A candle works well. Step 9: Attach blinds Consult your manual for the final directions on how to attach the blinds. In many cases, you will insert each side of the head rail into the appropriate end bracket and snap it closed. Step 10: Attach the tilt wand Look for a small plastic spinning mechanism sticking out of one side of the head rail. The tilt wand included with your blinds has tiny hooks attached to one end that will easily latch onto this mechanism, allowing you to open and close the blinds. Step 11: Keep extras Hang on to the instructions as well as any extra pieces of equipment that came with your blinds. You might need them if you ever want to reinstall your blinds. Did You Know? The early Egyptians tied together reeds from the Nile River to create an early version of window blinds.

Today I've got a Flashlight video for you. Oh.But first we need a flashlight. What I'm going to be doing is replacing some vertical blinds today and changing them from almond to white. So the easy way to do these is kind of stack these up near enough to each other but spread out enough that you can get into them. What you want to do is lift up on the back side here in order to move them down. And you can try to use another slat to do it. Now we're going to take down the headrail. What we've got is behind is these little clips that hold it into place like so. We turn it and push it. Or you can use a screwdriver. Just get up in there right here, and turn it out. There we go. And the final one. This one just turns right out. Got my new set right here. When purchasing your new ones, you may want to go with standard size. Mine are actually a special size, special-cut size. Not too big of a deal. This is a finished main size liner-- 78 by 81. And the standard size is 78 by 84. So when possible, it may be easier to go standard size. And watch out for this Styrofoam stuff. It'll definitely make a mess for you if you let it. So just kind of be aware of that. It looks like on this end, we'll have brackets. Don't want to be using the old brackets. This model of bracket's a little bit different. And again, I'll be using my old one. This one has a press tab on the back, because my old ones are very different. I'll show you here. You can see here. With these, I may need to squeeze them a little bit forward just to make sure it's tight enough on all three of them to really grab the blinds themselves. So that'll grab right up underneath the knob. You'll want to watch which way your blinds stack up, making sure that it's stacking up on the stationary portion of the door. This one is set up for that. What you'll do is tilt your blinds this way, and put the headrail so that this portion of it notches right into the deal and rotates into place. I'm going to slide mine all the way up against the wall on the left side, putting your weight on this side. And press it up into place. And here's my wand. I'll slide this over and just put my wand in at the right angle there. OK. And now I want to rotate in the rest of our deals here. Same thing. Be careful here. This is all very, very sharp edges. It's unfinished metal. It'll catch you like nobody's business. Well, a doctor's business maybe. But there we go. Anyway, you don't want to go there. OK. Now we're ready to change out the blinds. The easy way to do this is to stack all of your blinds up like so against the back. And what you want is you want the curved end on the back side. Sometimes the blinds will come, and they'll be coming inside a bag. And if that's so, you can slip the bag down and make it nice and easy. Probably could grab them all together like this. So I've got them on the floor, and they're kind of lending support to each other as I'm holding them together. And then one at a time, you can slip them up in it. OK. Now that they're in, we can get our valance in, our valance on. The valance just has these anchors. And for this smaller size, it's just three anchors. For bigger sizes, you may need four. And it just allows you to rotate these clips in.

Wood blinds add a natural sophistication to any room, but you can get the authentic look for less with Faux Wood blinds. How to Install Wood and Fauxwood Blinds - Outside Mount - Blinds.com ----- Video Transcript: Horizontal Blinds are easy to install, in this short video you will learn to install them. A screwdriver is all that's needed to install your blinds; or for an easier installation you can use a cordless screwdriver or a drill with a ¼" Hex head bit. Before starting, carefully unpack your blinds and mounting hardware. To familiarize yourself with the contents of your box, check the printed instructions included with your product. Begin your installation by positioning your blind on the wall surface where you want it to be mounted. Mark the left and right outside edges of your blind along the bottom and sides with a pencil. Align the side and bottom of your left bracket along the inside of your pencil line and fasten to the wall with the supplied screws. Repeat on the right side. If you receive a center support bracket, mount it slightly off-center above a section of the headrail where it will not interfere with the operation of the blind cord. Next, snap the included valance clips over the front lip of your headrail before mounting the blind. Space your valance clips evenly, avoiding contact with any mechanism inside the top of the blind. Slide your headrail into the brackets, this should go in easily. Completely close the covers on your brackets by pressing up on the bottom of your bracket with your thumbs while lowering the front part of the bracket until the cover snaps into place. To complete your installation, attach the side returns of your valance using the supplied L brackets. Snap your valance into your pre-installed clips, top first and then bottom. Finish by lowering and testing your new blinds. To lower your blind, pull the cord toward the center of your blind and slowly raise your hand while holding onto the cord. To raise your blinds, pull the lift cord away from your blind at any angle. To tilt your slats, your blind will come with either a tilt cord or a wand. Either pull the tilt cord or rotate the wand to open and close your slats to the desired angle. And that's it, If you still have any questions about the installation of your blinds just give us a call, it's that easy. ----- Featured Product: Blinds.com Brand 2" Fauxwood Economy Blinds (http://blnds.cm/29TNWeM) ----- Connect with http://blnds.cm/29KbxBv: BlindsTV channel: http://blnds.cm/29TVDWa Facebook: http://blnds.cm/29OFpYZ Twitter: http://blnds.cm/29UKqil Pinterest: http://blnds.cm/29TWlCY

Take measurement B away from measurement A and divide the answer by 2 to get measurement C. Now follow step 2 then the instructions for face fixing 1 Fitting your blind inside the window (recess fitting) You need to decide whether to face fix or top fix your blind. Top fix your blind to the lintel if: • you have uPVC window frames, or • there are obstructions like handles Face fix your blind if: • you want to fit the bracket to the window frame 2 Put your blind in the fitting position and tilt it forward to show the ladder controls. You’ll need to leave at least 5cm either side of any cords when you fit the brackets 3 Top fixing Measure the distance that any handles stick out from the frame (A). Mark this measurement on the lintel and use it to position the back of the bracket. Mark the position of holes (B) and screw the bracket to lintel using screws and rawl plugs provided. 3 Face fixing Position bracket with the swing arm, which will hold the blind to the headrail, facing towards you. Mark holes (B). Screw bracket in place. Use rawl plugs if fitting to the wall. Stage 2: Attach the blind 1 Push the swing arm anti-clockwise as far as it will go. Clip the blind over the bracket, first easing the front lip of the headrail (A) into place before the back corner clicks in. 2 Push the swing arm clockwise until it locks into place, firmly holding the blind head rail. 3 To raise and lower the blind, use cord control A. To adjust the angle of the slats, use wand control B Transcriptions: In this video I am going to show you how to fit a Wooden Venetian blind Or an innovations "pho" wooden blind but the procedure is almost exactly the same now what you get is the blind itself plus a valance piece we'll come onto that later You'll also find the screws and the plugs A cleat for tidying up your cords and 2 end brackets Now these can be used for either face fixing if that's the option you have selected or as I'm going to do is for top fixing inside the recess of a window if your blind is a fairly long one you'll also get a centre support bracket and if its been included with your blind then you need to fit this as well in addition you will need to provide a drill with a suitable drill bit a cross head screw driver, a metal tape measure and a pencil now we are going to start with positioning these brackets now do you remember when we measured your window we were aware of obstructions that might get in the way of your blind We've got the same situation here we effectively want to make sure we have the back of the blind doesn't hit the handle when its on the way down so we need to measure how far out these protrude and for safetys sake I'm going to allow 4cms in my case So we need to do is make sure the back of the bracket is more than 4cm's away form the window frame so if I start off by making a mark where 4cm's comes to I then need to position the bracket and the way you mount it there is a little springy door at the front you want that door pointing towards you away from the window frame you want to mount that on there and pushing your pencil up through the hole mark where you are going to drill through and now we need to do the same on the other side now if your blind comes with a center support you might think you need to put it right in the middle but check first because check on the head of your blind in the middle their might be part of a mechanism so the best advice positioning that is measure from the end and Im going to put mine 75cm's in to avoid getting in the way but check with you blind for your own measuements so now I am going to come across 75cm which is here put a little mark and remember to that need to bring the back of the bracket out the same distance as the ends which in my case was 4cm so that it avoids the obstructions once again mark the position that you need to drill through using your pencil we are now ready to get the drill out now the brackets are designed so you can get your screwdriver through the hole on the opposite side so now your brackets are up you are now ready to put the blind in place but first you just need to check one thing if you have the Wooden Venetian blind with the Velcro squares on the front then that's fine you can put that up now but if you have got the innovations pho wooden blind Contd.....
